HONG KONG, CHINA - AUGUST 31:  A performance of classical Cantonese opera in Hong Kong on August 31, 2009. These performances are staged in temporary theatres around Hong Kong during the seventh lunar month as part of the Festival of the Hungry Ghost (Yue Laan). It is said that the dead and departed are allowed out from heaven during this month to roam the earth. The living are required to satisfy the ghosts in order to attract good fortune - be this through food offerings, burning gifts such as funeral money or other symbolic objects and, entertaining the ghosts through these operatic performances.
